HALF TIME: AUXERRE 0 - LIVERPOOL 1

A Steven Gerrard goal on the stroke of half-time has given Liverpool a 1-0 interval lead over Auxerre in their latest pre-season friendly.

Gerrard broke the deadlock with a well-struck low shot from just inside the box following a clever dummy by Ryan Babel.

Liverpool's only other goalscoring opportunity of note also came via the boot of Gerrard who forced the keeper into a diving save with a close-range effort midway through the half.
